♥ One of my favorite places in the world, and my first home in Tokyo:
国立天文台 (Kokuritsu Tenmondai), the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Mitaka-shi, where I learned my trade. Here’s the housing of the observatory’s old 65-cm refractor telescope that was manufactured by Carl Zeiss. Ship manufacturers built the wooden dome in 1926. I love this place, especially in August when vines cover everything.

How beautiful and tranquil it looks. Thank you for sharing the photos!
Thank you, Janice! It’s a wonderfully peaceful place, and so lush and green in summer. (‘-’)
Window to the stars;
the round dome, shadowed deeply,
in green August vines
That’s lovely, Robert! August is the time of sparkle and shine, too…fireflies, hanabi, Perseid meteor showers.
