♥  ALMA’s ready!
Everyone at the observatory has been looking forward to the launch of the world’s largest international astronomy facility. The Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array is the result of more than three decades of planning and collaboration. What is ALMA going to reveal about the universe?

♥  One of my favorite places in the world, and my first home in Tokyo:
国立天文台 (Kokuritsu Tenmondai), the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Mitaka-shi, where I learned my trade. Here’s the housing of the observatory’s old 65-cm refractor telescope that was manufactured by Carl Zeiss. Ship manufacturers built the wooden dome in 1926. I love this place, especially in August when vines cover everything.

In Summer...

... and in Winter
